Each new year I get excited about starting a new plan to read through the Bible. This year is no exception, however my prayer is that I start strong and finish even stronger. Its easy to fall into a routine and read the assigned scriptures without paying a bit of attention to the text. I also dont want to take for granted how much freedom I have to not only read Gods Word but also possess as many ( and i have a lot) copies as i want. I have a variety of colors, cover types, translations, formats (including electronic), OT only, NT only, etc. I must and want to remember those who dont have access to His Word, and those who are persecuted and killed for possessing even a portion of His Word. Oh Father, may I never forget and always cherish and defend your Word. May I never take for granted but always be grateful. My first mission trip was to Kenya for a womens ministry trip. The night before our return home we had a special evening with the ladies who attended the retreat. Each lady was given a Bible in her preferred language. What occurred next was something i will never forget, they celebrated and danced and praised The Lord for the priceless gift they just received. I just love Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning, God...
