Each year HUL observes Global Hand washing Day in partnership with governments, health agencies, students and non-profit groups to promote the importance and practice of hand washing with soap at the right times during the day.Global Hand washing Day focuses on children because not only do they suffer disproportionately from diarrhea and respiratory diseases and deaths, but research shows that children – the segment of society so often the most energetic, enthusiastic, and open to new ideas – can also be powerful agents for changing behaviors like hand washing with soap in their communities. As a part of this Enactus Somaiya Social Cell in collaboration with HUL participated in an awareness campaign that included participants from several leading B schools like TISS,SP Jain,Welingkar, NITIE as well. School children mainly in the age group of 4-9 years were made aware of the importance of sanitation .With this, Enactus SSC has contributed in a small way to the Millennium Development Goal of reducing deaths among children by two-thirds by 2015 :-)
