Eagle Fact for Sunday, November 24, 2013 Bathing - From the Majestic Eagles book by Stan Tekiela Bathing is another part of preening. An eagle will usually land at the edge of a lake or river and walk slowly into a shallow area about 2 inches deep. After looking around the site for a while, perhaps to ensure there is no danger, the eagle begins to bathe. This often starts with the head, which the eagle dunks repeatedly until it is fairly wet. Afterward, the bird concentrates on the rest of its body. When satisfied with the bath, the eagle returns to dry land, where it shakes off the extra water and flies to a branch to clean and straighten out its feathers. This video is AWESOME for demonstrating eagles bathing! I found it on YouTube of course! Enjoy!
