Ear drum shattering shriek of frustration piercing the air every few minutes as a too-tall single column of Duplos crashes to the floor. I feel frustration and annoyance building in me, wanting to snap out, grab the toys away. Yell at him to stop. Breathe. Are you frustrated? Yes he whine-cry-says. Do you know why the tower is falling? No whine-cry. Do you remember when I taught you about making something stable? Yes. I think there are more blocks in the library, do you think you can use them to make your tower stable? Yes! he says, suddenly happy and excited. He runs off to the other room to build a stable structure. I go back to washing the dishes.
