Earl Buker and I were quite impressed with Jack playing through - TopicsExpress

Earl Buker and I were quite impressed with Jack playing through the pain of a severe ankle injury from the night before. He had also lost his voice. Willfull determination, the finest musicians backing him, and perhaps that Catholic guilt/work ethic he shares with Conan OBrien and Stephen Colbert, all propelled him to victory. It was a phenomenal show. Gutsy and raw. Though nothing will top the Mayan show earlier this summer (which was a once-in-a-lifetime metaphysical experience), this performance at the Bill Graham forced him to be vulnerable (not to be confused with self-pitying emo obnoxiousness) and somehow more accessible to the audience. Jack also dispensed fatherly advice (expose your kids to drums asap) and coverd Manic Depression and Message in a Bottle (the latter to honor Stewart Copeland NOT Sting he made very clear!)
