Earlier on I posted the comments below. Guess what! They have disappeared. I guess the gun lobby didnt like my point of view and didnt want others to read what I said. Here are the removed comments: link. 7:32pm Teachers Invention Could Save Students During A School Shooting huffingtonpost You have both a gun problem AND a mental health problem! Thank God that in Australia we dont live in fear of mad gunmen committing mass murder in our schools. We dont lock our classrooms against that American-style eventuality. Although we do have mad men, we also have far better gun controls than does the USA. Nicholas Kroonenburg commented on a link. Teachers Invention Could Save Students During A School Shooting huffingtonpost Brooker Decker above makes the following assertion: Australia had a massive gun shooting in 1996 and then they passed laws to prevent it from happening again. And guess what? It hasnt. Untrue! The above has been asserted any number of times by the USA gun lobby and its proponents - but what they say has been consistently refuted each time by Australians. No matter how much lobbyists might want what they say to be so vis the Australian experience, it just aint so. Nicholas Kroonenburg commented on a link. Teachers Invention Could Save Students During A School Shooting huffingtonpost >In 1996 Martin Bryant shot and killed 35 people and wounded 23 others in Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia. Even the ultra right wing government at the time said enough is enough and toughened the gun laws. This had overwhelming public support, despite the local gun lobby calling in help from the American National Rifle Association. The NRAs arguments just didnt wash! And ever since Australias had nothing like the gun madness that is so evident in the USA. What is more important, the right of people - especially so innocent kids in schools - to be free of the being murdered by rampaging, gun toting madmen or for rednecks to have the right to carry guns? Its a no brainer!
