Earlier the cub and I were sweeping the driveway when he decidedly began trying to cross the street to our neighbors. she was sitting on her front porch swing (she must be in her 70s..?) and we rarely talk... So his insistence was surprising to me. Until I realized she was silently wiping away tears. He somehow knew she needed to not be alone, and come hell or high water he was going to keep her company. And he did. And she smiled more than Ive ever seen her do. And when it was obvious she had shifted, he reached out his hand to me to go back home. Mission accomplished.
