Earlier this evening, during Prayer Academy, once again, the Lord showed up to teach us another lesson in prayer. This time, it was in the form of a 9 or 10 year old neighborhood kid whose 89 year old grandfather in Hopkinsville, KY had asked the youngster to pray for him. I want to pray for my grandfather! he said. He asked Steve Lynch to pray for his grandfather and Steve complied. Later the young man prayed that children would stay out of gangs. At another time, he joined the rest of us in praying against the plague of drug abuse that is destroying so many people. Before he left, Pamela insisted on praying for him and we dismissed a little early because of other reasons. No news agency will report the fact that a young African-American kid allowed the Holy Spirit of God to touch the hearts of Bethel Flock Baptist Church tonight. They will however report every bad thing they can possibly exploit to stir up anger, hatred and anything else that will make them money. However, when you are watching the hate mongers peddling their evil stories, dont forget that the Lord still has a lot of His people in this world and they are still looking to Jesus. I dont know when the next time I will actually make it down to Hoptown as we use to call it back when I was in Bowling Green and went to Hopkinsville via Yamaha. I would like to visit this 89 year old man and go to church with him. Id like to tell him what an honor it was to see his faith in his grandsons life too. I dont call it prayer meeting or prayer service. I call it Prayer Academy. because, since we started this time of prayer, the Lord has taught us something about Him and about prayer every single week.
