Earlier this week the 350- to 400-year-old oak tree at William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park collapsed, significantly damaging the adobe structure at the park. The historic portion of the park is currently closed until further notice, but the picnic area will remain open normal hours. The question now is what will happen to the remaining tree trunk? The Ide Adobe Interpretive Association and the Department of Parks and Recreation have planned a community meeting for 6 p.m. this Monday, July 28, at the park, to discuss what will be done moving forward. The public is encouraged to attend and provide ideas and feedback.
