Earlier this year I picked up a new 90mm Schneider lens for my 4x5 - TopicsExpress

Earlier this year I picked up a new 90mm Schneider lens for my 4x5 Large Format rail camera. As is typical, I purchased the lens without any sort of lensboard or mount, it was just a lens. When I eventually got around to looking for a lensboard for the lens and camera, I found that almost all online sources were sparse on details and rather overpriced. I ordered a Copal 0 lensboard (the correct flange size for my lens) from Adorama, and paid over $80 before shipping. My camera requires boards that are 162mm (6-3/8) square, and the board Adorama sent was 4x4. It was returned and I got a refund. I sourced other suppliers but couldnt get exact dimensions or conditions on the board(s) they were selling. When I did find the presumably correct ones they were still grossly overpriced. So I decided to go it alone and build my own. I have a machine shop in the family, and I almost went with an aluminum board. But I decided to do this myself as much as possible, so I chose wood as my material. Heres a gallery of my progress, and while I did cheat and use a CNC Router for one cut (thank you Jonas!), this is still a project that can be done entirely by hand. Heres my odyssey:
