Earlier today, as we cycled 15km following 8,000 balloons that traced where the Berlin Wall once stood -- through parks, over bridges, along canals, straight across neighborhoods we now consider one -- it boggled our minds to imagine this city — any city — divided, and especially in that way. We considered what freedoms we often take for granted today. And we considered the lengths that others go to in order to salve their insecurities and in doing so, to limit the freedoms of others. The thing about The Wall is that what it was cannot be overstated. It was a wall, literal and figurative, absurd and destructive. And we must remember the other walls that still remain today around the world.
