Early 2009 I was in Port-Harcourt for a seminar, after my speech a 43yr old man approached me, and told me he was fascinated by my speech. He went further to say that I should look at him and tell him if there was anything good I could see in him. While I looked at him, I noticed he was truly looking emaciated and dehydrated, but I refused to tell him what I saw, because I saw beyond his present reality. I told him that I saw greatness in him, he turned to me and said that I should stop flattering him and tell him the truth. Again I repeated my words and told him I saw greatness in him. He looked at me and asked, "Are you serious about what you just said?" I told him I was. Instantly he broke down and started weeping. I was very confused and uncomfortable because people outside were staring at us. So I told him he had to stop crying or else I would leave him. He told me that I could not understand why he was crying. I asked him why and he told me that in his 40 years of existence, no one ever told him the things I said during my presentation. All he was used to hearing were derogatory remarks about him like, "young man, stupid, useless, foolish man, unproductive and so on… Eight months later the same man called me and said that he wanted to appreciate me for helping him to discover himself and also helping him to see the sleeping giant in him. He went further by saying that he was now managing a business that was worth about N500, 000.00. I was so glad to hear that. Friend, this man would have died without discovering the greatness he had in him until he was told. My question to you now is who do you listen to? The people you listen to determine how far you will go in life. Remember never believe what people say about you, you can get to any height in your life, only believe in yourself and take responsibility for your life.
