Early Arrival to Nicaragua – Casa de Cooper If you were to catch an early flight to Managua, Nicaragua, we suggest taking a quick tour of Masaya Volcano on your way to Casa de Cooper. It is not really out of your way. Maybe 20 minutes since you would be going through Masaya on your way. This is an active volcano and, if you are interest in sites of Nicaragua, very well worth the trip. Masaya volcano is one of Nicaragua’s most active and unusual volcanoes. In contrast to the other volcanoes in Nicaragua, it has been erupting mainly fluid basaltic lava. At the time of the Spanish Conquistadors, it contained an active lava lake and it is reported that there were attempts to extract the volcano’s molten “gold”. There is a lot of history about the volcano that you would see when visiting from sacrifices’ to how it was used to punish victims of the government in early years of Nicaragua. After that, we suggest you stop at Laguna de Apoyo for lunch. Again, it is on the way to Casa de Cooper. See more at casadecooper
