Early Hollywood legend Charlie Chaplin lived in the east bay town - TopicsExpress

Early Hollywood legend Charlie Chaplin lived in the east bay town of Fremont for a few months between 1914 - 15. In that time he starred in films shot by Essanay Studios based there in the Niles district, including this one where he brings his lovable tramp character to life. Today, Niles holds on to its iconic movie past by celebrating the big stars of the day who filmed movies there like, Buster Keatin, Fatty Arbuckle, Harold Lloyd, Broncho Billy Anderson, Gloria Swanson, Helen Dunbar, Eugene Pallette, and Charlie Chaplin, just to name a few. A step onto Niles, District of Fremont California, is a step back in time. The studios are no longer there, but a museum dedicated to them is a great place to visit, and the theatre plays silent films every Saturday night with a live pianist for only $5! And yes, the little cottage that Mr. Chaplin called home still stands right next to the museum. For more info on the NIles museum - nilesfilmmuseum.org/ Help Golden Bay Magazine reach 1000 fans!
