Early Morning Rain by Gordon Lightfoot -- pristine stuff from Mr. Lightfoot -- this recording was actually recorded in 1964 - and in terms of texturing and instrumentation was pretty far ahead of its time -- Lightfoot was not a commercial smash save for his number one hits Sundown and Wreck of the Edmund Fitgerald ten years after this Great Lost 45 was first released --and he is still the first to state that he always refused and still does to promote himself so to speak - out of principle, - always preferring to feel that if his songs had anything to offer they would sell themselves. And just so, his songs as recorded by so many others leave a legacy few can match --- Elvis Presley most notably made this his own too. Happy Birthday once more to Gordon Lightfoot - born November 17, 1938 in Oncilla, Ontario, Canada. Listening to his stuff is like sipping a fine bottle of Windsor Canadian indeed !! cmc
