Early Sunday morning, November 16, 2014, myself and my partner Tim along with local law enforcement (Akron detectives, Akron SWAT, Akron Crime Scene Unit and Summit County SWAT officers) rescued 8 dogs and arrested 48 people, 47 for felony dog fighting in the City of Akron. Several of the alleged offenders also had multiple outstanding warrants for other charges. All 8 of the dogs are now being humanely housed at our facility Pawsibilities Humane Society of Greater Akron. Two of them were found injured when we arrived on scene that night and we eventually took them to a local veterinary hospital for wound treatment prior to coming to our shelter. All of the dogs will be under our care during the criminal proceedings which may take up to several months. Here I am today with 2 of the 8 dogs. This was one of the most important nights in my 11 year career and I am so glad we were able to safely remove all of the dogs from the property so that they now can be provided the proper care needed. More details of this case will continue to be released as time goes on. I personally want to thank ALL of the officers from the above mentioned units that teamed up with Tim and I on this. We all worked so well together to ensure this would run as smoothly as possible and that it would be a true success...which it most certainly was. **Our organization is in major need of canned dog food at this time (for these dogs and the many others in our care as well). Any and all brands are welcomed. If you are local and are able to drop some off to us, that would be much appreciated. If you would like to order through Amazon and have shipped to us, that would be terrific as well!! smile.amazon (and choose us as your charitable organization so that .5% of your purchase gets donated to us as well). SOMETIMES THE GOOD GUYS DO COME OUT ON TOP!
