Early last night I heard a knock on my door…an attractive early elderly lady stood at the doorway and introduced herself as the mother of one of my neighbors…she said she had been meaning to stop for some time…she wanted to thank me for the memorials that I published in the Minneapolis Star –Tribune…she always enjoyed reading them and found them inspirational…she said the most recent one “I’ll Walk Alone” really touched her heart…she said that she had lost her own spouse about a year ago and is grieving his death and ironically his name was also “Stan”…I never know how people react to my published memorials as I rarely hear from friends or family…it was a day brightener to be sure. This morning at grief share I told the story of this lady stopping to thank me…the lady sitting next to me in grief share then told me how she also enjoyed my published memorials to June and how they were inspirational…wow, two in 24 hours… Ironically these type of memorials are ones I have been making copies of and passing out to members of the church Grief Share group as hand outs in previous years and was told this year that practice would no longer be permitted because of some vague complaint about handouts by a member of the group in the previous year…I have objected to this decision and am waiting to review last years handouts with the senior pastor so that he can see just exactly what the handouts consist of…
