Early morning thoughts while listening to Pyotr Ilyich - TopicsExpress

Early morning thoughts while listening to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto One in B-flat minor performed by Van Cliburn. Brenda and I were fortunate to see him perform (The Emperor Concerto) back in—I think it was—the late 1970s. Anyway … there is linearity to music lacking in the thought processes of many Americans. For example, why is it that so many of the same people who yell the loudest that government is corrupt, useless, and immoral now want that same government to relieve their churches of the burdens of promoting their religion? A musician once told me that, of the final steps in performing, the last and most difficult is making it look easy. There is a connecting thought in human morality, taking us all the way from hopelessness to joy. It is that we have the choice to practice either hate, prejudice, or bitterness, on the one extreme—or love, grace, and charity on the one other, until the care and practice of our actions begin to look easy. https://youtube/watch?v=6qROema2MDI
