Early this morning the patriarch of my Moms family passed away. My Grandfather was the epitome of an American. He grew up in small tow USA (Yakima was smaller then). He joined the Navy during World War II, carried the mail for 30+ years, and then worked in a funeral home after that. An avid lover of music he and my Grandmother were involved with the SPEBSQSA and Sweet Adelines for years (barbershop quartet music) and yet even when they were up till 5 or 6 in the morning made it to church in the morning. During all this time they raised my mother and her three siblings.
