WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY Jamie McMurray and No. 1 E-Z-GO Team Bristol Recap: The intense Saturday night racing action at Bristol Motor Speedway lived up to its billing as the Irwin Tools Night Race saw 11 cautions for 74 laps and one red-flag. Jamie McMurray, driving the McDonald’s Chevy SS, battled to overcome some late race challenges to bring the battle-scarred race car home to a 19th-place finish. McMurray at Atlanta: McMurray has 19 previous starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he has completed 5914 of 6125 (96.6%) laps of competition and has four top-10 finishes with an average start of 22 and average finish of 20.5. Driving Away: E-Z-GO, Bad Boy Buggies and Cessna will host a longest drive competition this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway for NASCAR drivers, team owners and crew chiefs at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Contestants will compete for a chance to win a flight on a Cessna Citation to the NASCAR race of their choice and a customized E-Z-Go Freedom RXV personal golf car. Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team Bristol Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) returned to Thunder Valley for some short track racing under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway. Team Target qualified in the 16th position and quickly made a run to the front. The No. 42 flirted with the top-five for the majority of the night and rebounded from a pit road penalty to finish in third. Montoya at Atlanta: Montoya has 10 career NSCS starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway with three top-five and four top-10 finishes. He has an average starting position of 16.2 and an average finishing position of 17.3. His best start of third came in 2010 and his best finish of third came in 2009 and 2010. Looking Back: Team Target has two top-five and three top-10 finishes over the last five races. Montoya’s third-place finish last weekend is his best finish since being credited with second-place at the Dover race in June. The team also has no DNF’s (did not finish) this season. Montoya to Receive an Award: The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) announced the 26th Hispanic Heritage Awards Honorees, which will be celebrated on Sept. 5 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS, Juan Pablo Montoya, will be one of the select few honored at the awards ceremony for his career in sports.
