The event will be held at Mallard Park in Jesup and will be co-hosted by AllGreen Services of Jesup and the Altamaha Women’s Club. The 5k Earth Day Run will begin at Mallard Park (entry fee is $25). There will be trophies for several different divisions. Details will be available soon on our Facebook page (type Earth Day Jesup Georgia into the Facebook searchbar). There will also be an Earth Day Jesup Georgia poster contest. Winners will be selected from three age groups: Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. The over-all winner’s name will be printed on the official Earth Day Jesup Georgia tee shirts (see our Facebook page for details). Over 100 crepe myrtle trees will be planted on this day by Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 5K runners, and anybody else who wants to participate. These trees have been generously donated by the City of Jesup. Let there be music! If you are a group or an individual interested in entertaining on our stage or strategically placed areas in the park (acoustically; there will be no electrical hookups) please contact Tracy McCall at 912-816-8849 or [email protected] Booth space will be available for non-profit groups at no charge. Booth space for those who wish to sell something can do so. We request that you donate a generous portion of your proceeds to Earth Day Jesup Georgia, as all proceeds from this event will go towards the purchase of playground equipment – appropriately made from 10,617 recycled water bottles -- for Mallard Park! Civic groups – this is a great opportunity for you! Set up a booth at the park to sell your favorite homemade foods or disperse community-minded information. We are seeking Earth Day speakers! If you teach or work in the environmental or sustainability fields and have subject-appropriate information you’d love to share, we’ll supply you with booth space, publicity, and a 15-minute spot on stage. Demonstrations including earthworms, honeybees, composting, gardening tips, animal blessings and a whole lot more are in the works. Anyone want to donate Earth Day-related products? We will auction these great items off to events attendees with an hourly drawing for as long as there is an item to auction! Your name or company name will be announced as we auction your item. Please contact Tracy at 912-427-3033 or [email protected] for more information on how to donate your items to the auction. If you’d like to volunteer to help make this a great Earth Day event, please let us know on our Facebook page or contact Tracy at 912-427-3033 or [email protected].
