Ease Upper Back Strain at Your Desk Let’s face it. Desk work is hard on the body. And often it’s the neck, back, and shoulders that suffer the most. Luckily, there are many simple exercises and stretches that can ease job strain. And you can do some of them right at your desk. Try this exercise to release upper back tension at work: Tuck in your chin and relax your shoulders. Pull your shoulders back. Raise your shoulders to your ears as high as you can. Hold this position for a few seconds, and then release. Repeat this sequence several times.
