Easily the most intense few minutes of my life in terms of exercise was my bout with the Sledbarrow up the very steep Riverdale Park. While Im typically a dumbbell and barbell kind of girl, I like to mix it up Functional Training so when my good friend Jason and Andre called me up to give their Sledbarrow a try I was up for the challenge. If youve ever used a Sled or Prowler, then you know how different it is in terms of the way it taxes your body by developing overall athleticism and your capacity to do more work. While Squats, Deadlifts, Plyos, and Sprints are usually my go to exercises for lower body/glute development, Sled training is a whole other beast because it works your muscles in such a different way than traditional Resistance Training does and is brutally challenging. PUSHING the sled forward is an incredible way to work on speed development and targeting the posterior chain while DRAGGING the sled is killer on the quads and also incredibly effective in terms of conditioning. When you add weights and take the sled UP a very steep hill AND back DOWN again...TWICE...well that is a Mutated Beast of epic proportions and challenges you like youve never imagined! My legs and my butt were on fire and I was winded. Because I have to share everything with my team, Im going to have to set up a Conditioning Day with the Slebarrow at Riverdale Park very soon. Get your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and lungs ready TEAM!!! :D
