East District Participates in the Love the Children Campaign for 2014 The Lee County Sheriff’s Office East District Community Policing Unit, in partnership with the volunteers of the Lehigh Acres Community Initiative, collected and distributed toiletries for underprivileged students that are listed as homeless within our Lehigh Acres Elementary schools. Corporal Steve Cart delivered these items to local schools last week. This is the 3rd year the unit has been able to provide items such as tooth paste, toothbrush, a hair brush, shampoo, and body soap to our area schools. The project was originally started as a School District of Lee County Program. For the past 2 years the East District Community Policing Unit has been able to provide enough supplies to adopt five local Lehigh Acres Elementary schools. This year, 47 students were provided with supplies. Thank you to the Lehigh Acres Community Initiative and the deputies of our East District!
