East PACO concerned over FISP mismanagement Chipata, Mar 3/14, ZANIS----Eastern Province Agricultural Coordinator (PACO), Kennedy Kanenga, has expressed concern over the mismanagement of the distribution of farming inputs under the Farmer Input Supply Programme (FISP) by some cooperatives in the province. Mr Kanenga told ZANIS in an interview in Chipata District today that his ministry has received reports of mismanagement of the inputs, saying he will verify the reports for appropriate action to be taken against the culprits. He stated that officers from the Ministry of Agriculture will verify the reports and report the matter to law enforcement agencies. He warned that his office will not tolerate any mismanagement that will be discovered in the 2013 distribution of farming inputs by any cooperative. Mr Kanenga stated that the law will deal with any farmer cooperative leaders that will be found wanting. Meanwhile, the acting PACO has disclosed that a number of farmers in Petauke district have not yet received their inputs because they have not yet paid to their cooperatives. He, however, noted that the distribution exercise has been completed and that those who have not yet received their consignments are those that have problems with their cooperatives. Recently, the district administration in Lundazi complained that farmers in the district had been swindled by a corporative. ZANIS/ENDS/HN/EB----------------------DRY
