The Opportunity We are looking for an East Weipa Plant Operator to assist in the efficient day to day operation of the East Weipa Beneficiation Plant, Rail dump-bridge and Ship loading operation whilst working to identify improvement opportunities. Rio Tinto Alcans Weipa mine is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Over the years, Weipa has developed into a vibrant and diverse cultural hub of the Western Cape. Weipa offers a coastal community rich in geographical beauty and cultural heritage that provides families with opportunities to participate in leisure activities, sports and community events. What the role entails This role is a great opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a can do attitude along with previous fixed plant experience. Working a 12hr Day/night 4 on 4 off Continuous roster and reporting to the Crew Leader, you will be: •Mineral processing with a willingness to work across all streams, including sampling, conveyors, operating pumps and screens, the train unload station, ship loader and progressing to control rooms; •Working mostly outdoors in hot, humid and challenging environmental conditions including occasionally working at heights and in confined spaces; •Working without direct supervision and demonstrating a strong commitment to safety in order to achieve a workplace target of zero injuries and incidents. What you will need for this role To succeed in this role, you will have: •A manual C Class Drivers Licence •Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office suite programs such as Outlook and Word •Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team •Basic mechanical aptitude •Demonstrated problem solving skills So if this sounds like you and the opportunity you are looking for, apply now.
