East side beat officers went above and beyond this weekend. Patrolman Aaron Brooker retrieved an electric shopping cart for our local Walmart retailer. When Officer Kyle Pelkey first made this video available to me I thought the two officers were up to no good. I was wrong. A transient cart thief had escaped the bounds of the Walmart parking area with the motorized vehicle. Brooker, still euphoric over his recent turtle save, found out the carts cannot be pushed. The units must be driven. Officer Pelkey provided support and documented the successful return of the cart to its rightful owner by video recording this magnificent event. I edited out the adoring crowd applause because these two hate to be show cased just doing their jobs. Word on the street is that Pelkey has already been asked to speak at the International Walmart Greeters Meeting in Sioux Falls in 2015. Great job guys!
