EastEnders viewers will know Dean has had a crush on Linda ever since he returned to Walford. He’s already kissed her, but in the coming weeks he’s going to take things even further and rape her. Bosses hope the storyline will raise awareness about the issue of rape within a family unit. Kellie Bright, who plays Linda, said: I feel honoured to be given the responsibility to highlight the issue and educate against many myths surrounding rape. The statistics are shocking. I hope EastEnders will change people’s perceptions. Matt Di Angelo, who plays Dean, added: This is an extremely challenging storyline to play but and incredibly important story to tell. The show’s cast and crew are working closely with Rape Crisis South London to make sure it is handled with care and sensitivity. A show source told the Sunday Mirror: It is the most sensitive and upsetting issues that we have dealt with. Viewers will undoubtedly be deeply affected by it.
