Eastern Cape football side loses coach Tembu Royals coach, LwandileMagula, has passed away after succumbing to illness. The coach’s passing is seen as a major loss to the South African football fraternity, as he was seen as one of the up and coming mentors. Rex, as Magula was fondly known in football circles during his life time, led the Mthatha-based SAFA Second Division side to their participation in the Nedbank Cup this year. Magula led Royals to their famous 2-1 win over AmaZulu in the Round of Last 32 of the competition back in February. A Royals official confirmed Magula’s death on Wednesday (19Jun13) afternoon, on condition of anonymity, as the club was still planning to visit the family at the time. “It’s true. It happened on Tuesday night. He hadn’t been feeling well for some time. He was ill. We still have to meet as the team to discuss a way of meeting with his family formally. He was very good in football,” the club’s source revealed. trufm would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Magula, and the entire Tembu Royals’ team during this difficult time.
