Easy Guide for Your Reception Program Let our basic guide help you plan your wedding festivities. When it comes to your wedding reception, you want an organized and smooth-flowing program. Your reception shouldnt be too short that it becomes forgettable, and neither should it be too long to be dragging. To help you plan, heres a basic reception program flow for a four-hour reception. (You can allot one more hour for contingencies.) COCKTAIL HOUR AND THE COUPLES ENTRANCE: 1 HOUR The start of your reception is marked by welcoming guests in the reception venue. Your parents and family can greet the guests through a receiving line, or you can go for something less formal. This is also the time when guests try to find their assigned seats. Allot an hour for this so therell be ample time for your family to mingle with everyone, and for the guests to settle down. You can have cocktails and hors doeuvres served at this time, so that guests have something to nibble on while they wait for the program. When guests are comfy in their seats, the receptions host announces your entrance to signal the start of the party. PICTURE TAKING: 30 MINUTES The host of your program acknowledges your parents and distinguished guests. S/he can then facilitate an orderly photo opportunity for you and the guests--and in most cases, guests can then head to the buffet table after having their photo taken with you. Try to make the process as efficient as possible so you dont keep hungry tummies waiting. DINNER TIME AND PROGRAM PROPER: 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES a. ?Dinner Time: 1 hour Allot enough time for dinner, and dont forget to take into consideration the serving time. Guests would need to line up for a buffet, while waiters would have to make rounds to serve everyone for a sit-down dinner. Also remember that guests need time to interact so they can enjoy their meal. b. Wedding Toast: 10 minutes As your guests are having their dessert, let your family and friends toast to your good fortune, but remind them that theres no need to ramble on about your life story. Ask only those close to you to speak, and ask them to limit their speeches to a minute or two. c. Wedding Bouquet and Garter Tosses: 15 minutes Allow your coordinator or a close family or friend to inform participants even before the bouquet and garter toss. Five minutes before the game, your point person should gather the participants so that guests dont have to wait around for the game to start. d. Cutting of Wedding Cake: 5 minutes Cutting the cake is the receptions highlight, and brings the attention back to you and your groom. If youll still be doing other traditions like releasing doves, do so before you start with the dancing. DANCING: (ABOUT) 1 HOUR While everyones eyes are still on you, you and your husband can take center stage and have your first dance as a married couple. After your dance, invite your parents, and then your guests to join you on the dance floor.?Its up to you if you want the party to last for hours! #lipseventsservices
