$$$Easy come, easy go$$$: I was picking up trash along the road and found the usual mix of beer/liquor bottles, plastic bags, and general trash that falls off of trucks. Then a ONE DOLLAR BILL! Cheered me up. Then two more singles. Then a $20.00. Then some more singles. Then another $20.00, at which point I retraced my steps with sharper eyes. Total of over $70.00. Along a 50 foot stretch of my ditch. No wallet or ID... I had already resolved if I found identification Id call them up and be a good guy. Im like that. Otherwise Id put the cash toward some of MY OWN liquor and beer! Then a dejected kid came walking along staring at the ground. He said Sir, you didnt happen to see any money along here did you? My heart sank. Instant Good Samaritan. Son, this is your lucky day! As I fished the cash out he was stammering: Id walked to the store and when I looked my money was gone. Now I can walk back. Thanks. A lot of impoverished folks walk along my yard. Cant afford cars. They dont litter to my knowledge (except this guy littering currency!)...all the stuff gets heaved from passing cars. If only hed been rude, or if Id seen him toss out a candy wrapper...any excuse to justify my finders keepers instincts.
