Eat more weeds, heres why... Q (paraphrased): Im not really convinced of the value of super-foods. Raw fruits and vegetables should be enough! What do you think, Jeff? A: My (abbreviated) answer: I tend to agree ____________. There is NO replacement in my experience, for a good, largely raw, naturally alkalizing plant-based diet. However - and this is a BIG however - even organically grown fruits and veggies are, in all likelihood, not NEARLY as nutrient-dense as they once were; this, due to the MASSIVE over-farming of topsoil, in areas producing most of worlds standard crops. Yes, U.S. Congress published a report on the matter as early as the 1930s. Unfortunate that we didnt lay down a layer of rock-dust (proven to re-mineralize soil) upon soils, with each succeeding harvest. Anyway: As soils have become depleted, its likely more important than ever to eat a supply of more, shall we say, WILD foods. S. Boutenko, Rothkranz and other raw vegans have written extensively about the matter - and I agree with them. In fact? I should probably be foraging and consuming one heck of a lot more weeds, than I now am. As their roots often delve FAR into the ground (much further than standard edible plants), pulling up with them nutrients, minerals unknown to the more common, topsoil-grown, plant fare. In fact... Id bet my next plate full of greens on the idea! Heres Sergei Boutenko, on the issue: youtube/watch?v=3patCDVUooc. Short of that? Im not against, as Jay Kordich, Markus Rothkranz, Anthony Robbins and a handful of others have offered, the idea of SOME high-quality supplementation. ON TOP of course, of an already good, varied, primarily raw, and 100% vegan diet. J, TheSuperFitVegan
