Eating, Food Obsessions, and Oral Fixation There is a parallel - TopicsExpress

Eating, Food Obsessions, and Oral Fixation There is a parallel between food, eating, and degeneration in the brain. Food may not smell or taste the same to the patient. The appetite control system may start to malfunction as cells deteriorate, resulting in distinct peculiar eating behaviors, overeating or not eating, and dehydration. As the condition progresses, your loved one must be supervised at every meal. Swallowing problems, along with pocketing and hoarding food, will increase the risk of malnutrition, choking, and aspiration (the inhalation of foods, beverages, saliva, or mucus into the lungs).
