Ebay tip of the week! If a customer wants to return an item for buying in error here is a tip to make sure that YOU are not losing money. Ebays rules state that you have to accept a return for any reason, but even if the buyer accepts that it was their fault you still have to pay the outbound postage leaving you at a loss for an error that you were not part of. So here what to do: Firstly send andautomated return agreement to the customer, dont bother getting into an arguement because it will just wind you up, then send the customer a cancellation notice, once this is closed you will get your seller fees back. The chances are that the buyer will ignore this completely or only agree after they get a full refund Secondly after a day send the customer a message saying that you need to remove the cost of the outbound postage from their refund, they may agree or disagree to this. Right once the item arrives leave it for a few days because after 7 days YOU will be able to close the cancellation request yourself choosing i no longer wish to communicate with the buyer, close this and you will get the final value fee returned to you. Lastly send your customer the refund minus your expenses. Chances are that you will hear no more about this, works for me.
