Ebola - to not worry about it could be a major downfall. Take into consideration that the main carriers into other countries thus far are health care workers. Now public airlines overseas have been placed at risk due to quarantine periods not being maintained. This is my personal opinion but if you look at the images of what they wear when attending to the sick, the regime that they must go through to protect themselves when dealing with this virus and yet they still manage to contract it. What hope is there for the general public? When SARS occurred there was screening at airports, areas infected were in lockdown etc. The black plague was probably only stopped from affecting the whole world due to travel constraints. Those constraints now dont exist and we are left down to how much preventative methods would cost the economy. $$$$ over lives. They say that theres 6 degrees of separation and that in New Zealand that is less. If thats the case if we get 1 infected person here how quickly will it get a foothold and whats our nations plan of attack to stop it?
