Ebola: Church sensitizes congregation in Ilorin ilorin.info/fullnews.php?id=11385 Worried by the raging infection of Ebola virus in the country, a pastor, Dr Isaac Oludipe in Ilorin warned members of the christian community against consumption of some animals vulnerable to the dreaded scourge. Speaking at yesterdays service at Jointheirs Bible Life Church International, Tanke Ilorin, Oludipe said the call became imperative so as to dissuade people particularly those who are fond of eating some bush animals that are major carriers of the disease. He listed the carriers of the disease to include gorilla, monkey and bat. Oludipe, a medical doctor in Kwara State, who traced the origin of the disease, said it emanated from a river called Ebola in the republic of Congo in 1976, which has now caught global attention. He also warned members of the congregation against shaking hands with strangers, just as he urged them to wash their hands regularly with sanitizer before eating. The cleric said, Ebola virus is highly contagious. People should avoid animals that are carriers of the disease. They are gorilla, monkey and bat. Bush meats should be properly cooked before consumption. While commending the Kwara State government for its immediate response and provision of medical facilities for the prevention and control of the disease, Oludipe urged the people to report any case of Ebola to the state Ministry of Health for immediate action. At the service, prayers were offered for the country to surmount the current threat of Ebola spread in the country. - See more at: ilorin.info/fullnews.php?id=11385
