Ebola Scare! The Salt Bath Fallacy Residents of Benue State are practically living in fear as I speak due to a rumor and a fallacy saying Ebola has penetrated Benue and Everyone should bath with salt before dawn ... It is about 7am and the Rumor is everywhere and people have been bathing since 12 am Nigerian Time ... People are been misled to think bathing with salt between the hours of 12.00am to 6.00am Nigerian time will protect a person from the virus apparently this is a fallacy and it started from Kogi State where Broadcast Messages on BBM were been speculated that the Attah of Igala declared all Igala citizens around Nigeria should wake up and take their bath with water and salt and no sponge ... If you received this messages ,if youve already taken your bath or you re about to ... I repeat its just a rumour meant to misled people who are ignorant of what Ebola is ...I also got the call lol .. Similarly to this it was speculated that Eating Bitter kola prevents Ebola and the Minister of Health came out to debunked this ..now is salt Here are facts about Ebola; Ebola is a rare but deadly virus that causes bleeding inside and outside the body and its Symptoms show up 2 to 21 days after infection and usually include: • High fever • Headache • Joint and muscle aches • Sore throat • Weakness • Stomach pain • Lack of appetite There is currently no vaccine or cure but Health workers have said wash your hands before eating avoid body contact with an infected person as Ebola is transmitted via body fluids.
