Ebola outbreaks Past outbreaks have occurred in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, South Sudan, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Republic of the Congo, and South Africa (imported). The current Ebola outbreak has affected multiple cities and towns in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Senegal experienced a travel-related outbreak. The CDC estimated that without interventions or changes in community behavior, by Jan. 20, 2015, there would be 550,000 Ebola cases in Liberia and Sierra Leone or 1.4 million if corrections for underreporting are made.
