Ebola: the facts. There have been nine cases on US soil. Six of those have recovered, two are in treatment, and one has died--just one. Two nurses were infected by the deceased Mr. Duncan while he was hospitalized during the period when he was most contagious. That Dallas hospitals mistakes have gotten a lot of attention, and probably wont be made again. None of the other persons who might have had contact with Duncan, other patients at the hospital, neighbors etc., has gotten sick. None of the other Ebola sufferers has given it to anyone else. Meanwhile, someone dies every 16 minutes in a car accident. We have no way of knowing if the next car is being driven by a drunk or a distracted driver, and in an instant, that person could end several lives. The irrational fear of Ebola is way out of proportion. Some leaders could reasonably be accused of fear mongering the Ebola issue as a way to score political points or television ratings. Think about the damage they are causing as you go to vote on November 4th. We need leaders who will not go off half cocked in radicalism, but whose cool heads will find effective solutions to problems like Ebola, automobile safety, and everything else that plagues us.
