Ebola virus thrives in denial and disbelief. What our brothers and sisters in the West and North of Sierra Leone are going through is not strange to us in the East. In the early months of the outbreak,we in the East,Kailahun to be specific had similar challenges. It took time for our people to accept the reality and existence of this dreadful Ebola Virus. As a result of their prolonged delay in accepting that Ebola virus is real and it kills,more precious lives were lost. Today,it is a different story altogether. We are grateful to our authorities and all agencies that are helping to show a revolving door to the Ebola virus in Kailahun district. Even a child born today in the district knows that Ebola is real and it exists. Our record is impressive though shaky. Out of 2,063 laboratory confirmed cases of Ebola in November,Kailahun district accounted for just 4 of that colossal number and yet to register a case in December. The secret behind our success is the strict adherence to the by-laws and pieces of advice given to us by our authorities and medical practitioners. I am with a fervent belief that December is not going to leave Ebola virus in this small and resource blessed nation.
