Ebonyi 2015: Manipulation of nomination forms worries PDP stakeholders Abuja Ebonyi state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed worry over the fraudulent manipulation of the prices of the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms through imposition of administrative charges by party officials in the state. The stakeholder, under the aegis of PDP Vanguard for Transformation in Ebonyi state, also kicked against alleged illegal list of delegates in anticipation of the forthcoming ward congresses to subvert the wishes of PDP members and Ebonyi people. The group, in a letter to the party national leadership signed by its Chairman, Engr. Nweke Onwe and its Secretary, Kennedy Nwogba described the move as a means of discouraging members from contesting the election. “We wish to bring the attention of the Chairman and members of the National Working Committee of our great Party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the fraudulent activities currently going on in Ebonyi Chapter of the Party orchestrated by some party officials against the guidelines and directives of the National Working Committee through imposition of exorbitant additional fees as administrative charges to the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for aspirants and disregard the warning of the NWC against imposition of candidates. “The aim of the perpetrators is to frustrate members of the party who are desirous of contesting the next elections on the platform of the party by making the fees unaffordable and discouraging them through the story of non-existent consensus candidate,” the group said. It revealed that the plan of the party officials was to rig the primaries to justify their candidate imposed on the people of Ebonyi state in the person of Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu. “Mr. Chairman may recall that on Thursday 9th October, the National Working Committee of our Party published the guidelines of the party for next general elections which included the prices for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for all categories of offices for election. This publication was a follow up to the earlier schedule and time table of the party congresses and primary elections from October to December, 2014. “On 10th October, 2014, the NWC also published bank details and addresses for aspirants to pay their fees accordingly. Those notices were unambiguous and direct and did not make any exceptions to any Chapter of the party,” the group said. It however explained that “State House of Assembly forms and expression of interest which is placed for N1.2m by the National body, Ebonyi PDP is collecting extra N480, 000. This places on the aspirants a total of N1,680,000.00 “For House of Representatives, the NWC fee is N2.5M; Ebonyi added N1m making a total of N3.5m. “For Senate, NWC fee is N4.5m, Ebonyi PDP added N1.8m making a total of N6.3m. “For Governorship NWC fee is N11m with Expression of interest, Ebonyi PDP added N4.4m making a total of N15.4m.”
