Ebonyi lawmaker’s wife kidnap: fear grips residents Residents of Abakaliki now live in fear as the wife of Honourable I. K. Ogbu of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mrs Winifred Ogbu, from Ishelu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state was kidnapped last week. According to an eyewitness who spoke with Nigerian Pilot, the kidnappers numbering three, came on a motor bike whisked Mrs Ogbu, popularly called Winnie at gunpoint just as she was about entering their Abakliki GRA residence. “While two of the hoodlums alighted from the motorcycle, the third sped away on the bike. The other two, who obviously meant to shoot her if she disobeyed, eventually succeeded in giving her the beating of her life and bundled her into the trunk of her Honda CR-V jeep,” the eyewitness said. Confirming the story to Nigerian Pilot on the phone, an obviously devastated Hon. Ogbu expressed dismay over the continued withholding of his wife by the kidnappers, saying that he has continued to plead with them to release his wife. “I am in touch with them; even before your call came in, we just finished talking and they are seriously demanding N10million and nothing less before they can release my wife. I’ve pleaded with them; I wish they will hear my cry and release her” he said.
