Ecclesiastes 11:4 ~ “He that observes the wind will not sow. He - TopicsExpress

Ecclesiastes 11:4 ~ “He that observes the wind will not sow. He that observes the clouds will not reap.” Solomon says that if a person pays too much attention to the wind, he will probably not sow the seed necessary for a harvest. Solomon then says that if that person pays too much attention to the clouds, they will worry about rain causing mildew to what they have harvested. So they refuse to harvest what they have planted. He goes on to say in verses 5 and 6 that since we have absolutely NO IDEA how God does what He does, we should just do what we know we need to do. Verse 6 tells us that God can bless whatever He chooses to bless! Dr. Joel Gregory put it this way, “Don’t get caught up in the paralysis of analysis !!!” In other words, if you never take any risks, you are assured of failure! Don’t analyze a thing, until you analyze yourself right out of a blessing! Dr. Gregory also told us that Halitosis (bad breath) is better than NO breath at all. Have you ever planned something down to the very last detail, and it failed? Then you did something that you considered dumb and stupid (like getting pregnant by a knucklehead), and God BLESSED YOU (with a wonderful child)? Don’t be like that servant Jesus spoke of who refused to invest (risk) what he was given, so it was taken from him and he was judged (Matthew 25:24-30. Don’t over analyze a thing until it causes fear, and paralyzes your ability to make a wise decision! Let me close with what Dr. Gregory told us in Oxford, about our ability to make on-the-spot decisions. He said, “When a plane is traveling down the runway for takeoff and reaches around 120 miles per hour, a decision has to be made to abort the takeoff, or turn the nose of the plane upward. You dont want a pilot at that crucial time saying, Let me think about this !!!” Some of you are struggling with a decision that needs to be made. You can analyze it to death and miss a blessing, or you can trust that God has more ways to bless you, than you have to ways to fail! Now, make a decision, and pull the nose up! :D
