Ecclesiastes 12:10-11 “The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth. The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd.” There is nothing so foundational for our stability in life like the Word of God. It never changes. It is the same truth passed down through the centuries. The world philosophizes about what is truth according to what is hip for the day, but God’s truth remains true and unchanging for eternity. God’s Word has upheld the darkest sinner in the face of failure, it has brought necessary light to the man in his darkness hour, it brings hope in times of great despair, it brings wisdom for the one in need of paramount counsel, it describes to the child of God - the character of God – to enable us to know Him fully, and to the unbeliever – it describes the avenue to relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. The words of truth in the Bible are like “nails” in our spiritual foundation – nails firmly fixed – nails that hold firm the truth of God’s Word for us to lean on in times of pressure from this world!
