Ecclesiastes 4:1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions - TopicsExpress

Ecclesiastes 4:1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. ******************************************************************* The dictionary says oppression is the unjust or cruel exercising of authority. As I hear that definition I am saddened as it describes the lives of so many young people today. Many are trapped under the rule of the authority of someone that is unjust or cruel. There have always been these types of situations but with each generation it seems to get worse. The hearts of these young people become hardened as a defense mechanism from these abusive situations. The circumstance in their lives that should bring them to tears only brings them to numbness. Instead of crying they stare blindly into space. Tears are seldom shed, they are held back and buried inside with the hurt. They reject help from others and trying dealing with it on their own because they have been hurt by the very ones that are supposed to love them the most, so all trust is lost. We are not born with this lack of trust it is developed within us after experiencing or witnessing the untrustworthy take advantage of them or others time after time. It is unfortunate that for some this lack of trust is a wound that will stay with them the rest of their lives and influence every relationship they will have from there on. There is a healer. His love can overcome the wounds of the world but they need to see His love active and alive in us day in and day out. By allowing our sincerity toward the Lord to be evident His love can begin to slowly heal the wounds of un-forgiveness and doubt. We now have the comforter in the form of the Spirit of God. As Jesus was preparing to leave this world He said “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;” He is all we need to heal the wounds of the world.
