Echo is home to a number of rescued parrots that are sadly unable to be released back into the wild. We try to give them the best quality of life possible but these beautiful creatures are designed to be flying free in the wild. They now play an important role as ambassador birds, each with their own story, that raise awareness among visitors and children. Below you will find the profile of one of the parrots named Weeble! Name: Weeble Nickname: Baby Weebs Back story: Weeble was an illegally captured pet that was confiscated and brought to Echo in 2012 at the same time as Sally. When he first came to Echo his feet were completely clenched due to lack of calcium and other minerals during crucial stages of his development. He has since recovered a lot of movement thanks to diet and exercise. On several occasions he has been put in the large aviary with the other birds but time and time again he was bullied. He appears to be much happier in the smaller aviary! Personality- Lovely Weeble may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but he has a very gentle nature. He is sweet, caring and a very loyal friend to the other parrots. He and Sally have a little sequence of whistles that they like to sing together. Hobbies- Having big gossip sessions with his neighbour and best gal pal Sally, batting his long eye lashes and chilling out in his hide-away box.
