Echocardiography Conference Concluding Day The two- day conference on “Advanced Echocardiography” concluded on Sunday at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram. The conference was organized by SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram and SSSIHMS, Whitefield in collaboration with GE Healthcare, the health care arm of GE. The sessions on the second day included “rare cases presentations” , “hands on training on ‘must know’ cardiac pathology and “principles of 3D echo imaging” among others. The faculty members and delegates alike were greatly impressed by the way the conference was conducted and the service being done by the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram to the humanity. Sai Hospital Maintenance is a miracle Faculty member Prof. Vijayraghavan, a Padmashree awardee, and vice-chairman and founder Director of Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum, Kerala, said that the conference on ‘Advanced Echocardiography” stood up to its name. “The conference was of a high quality”, he said. Talking about the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, he mentioned that the hospital was a miracle. “I have referred many patients to this hospital and they have high regard and gratitude for what this hospital has done for them. Not only the creation of this hospital, but also maintenance of the hospital is a miracle,” he added. Another faculty member, Dr. Alagesan, former president of the Indian Academy of Echocardiography said that the conference was focused and the hands-on aspect of training, which helped the delegates to learn the modalities of Echocardiography well. Asked about the hospital, he mentioned that the hospital of one of its kind. “Providing free treatment to all is a extremely difficult endeavor and this is one hospital which is able to do it,” he said. What also impressed Dr. Alagesan was the maintenance of the hospital. “Everyday so many patients come here still it is so clean and well maintained. Dr. Dharminder Kumar from Chandigarh, said that it was his first time to Puttaparthi and he greatly impressed with what he had seen. “The conference was interactive, so we were able to learn a lot. Here you are learning theory and practical demonstration follows so you absorb better” he said. Asked about the hospital, Dr. Kumar said everywhere in the world you have hospitals where you have to deposit money first and then enter the hospital for treatment, but this hospital is totally unique, which provides treatment totally free of charge.” Another delegate Dr. Minati Kale from Coimbatore mentioned that it was her wish to visit Puttaparthi for a long time and this conference gave her an opportunity to do so. “ It was great to have the conference in such a holy environment, “ she said. The delegates had an opportunity to have the Mahasamadhi Darshan of Bhagawan Baba at the end of the first day.
