Echoes of Shelton. Thanksgiving caused me to reminisce about many things from long ago. Among them were remarks, sayings really, that I do not claim are unique to Shelton, but certainly were heard there at least by me. We all have our own & I have many more, but here is a sample: Grandmother exclaiming, Goodness, gracious! At every unexpected event, good or bad, big or small. Dad muttering, Useless as tits on a boar. Anytime someone could not fix anything broken. Waitress smiling, You bet! After I thanked her for a cup of coffee. Grandfather yelling, Dad gum it, let her rip! To get me to start some piece of machinery. Mother kindly remarking, He does not have sense enough to come in out of a rain storm. Usually about a challenged relative or friend. And one of my favorites, Grandmother wickedly, At least they did not ruin two marriages! Especially about a distant relative who with spouse she had misgivings. You get the idea. Add on. My head is full of dozens more.
