Ecological Sensitive Areas for Western Ghats.-Facts and Myths lecture by S N Prasad, Secretary, Open source Geospatial-India chapter, International Inst of Information Technology, Hyderabad at YMCA Kunnamkulam, 03:00pm. Organized by Kunnamkulam Centre Yuvajasakyam on 25th January 2014 He worked at IISc as a reseacher for more than a decade, obtaining Ph.D in Ecology and later as a staffer with Centre for Ecological Sciences. Subsequently worked at the Wild life institute of India, Dehra Dun and at the Salim Ali centre for Ornithology and Natural History,Coimbatore . Major areas of interest include the field ecological research in all biogeographical regions of the country, application of open source geospatial technology to ecological themes and in capacity sharing of open source geospatial applications in education and research. Extensively worked on Western Ghats beginning 1975 and continue to work on a range of thematic areas .This has included a first of its kind application of Free and open source geospatial technology tools for assessment of Ecological sensitivity of western Ghats,providing inputs to the WGEEP.
