Economic Impact The loss of teachers as residents, the reduction of events at the school, and the inevitable population reduction which follows a consolidation all will combine to have a negative impact on our community’s economic growth. Finances How is our financial position different today than it was in 2010 when the bond issue was passed for the elementary school addition? Many members of our community seem to be convinced O-C is on the edge of an economic collapse which leaves no option but to consolidate. This is simply not true. In fact the 2014 O-C budget projects a cash surplus almost 3 times higher than at any point in the last 20 years. While all small schools face challenges, those faced by O-C are no different today than they have ever been.
